M7 Youth Rodeo and its cluster of little stars...

12/13/2016

The youth of North Texas saddled up this weekend for another year of competition at M7 Arena in Alvarado as they kicked off their 2017 rodeo season. The two day event included hundreds of young riders focused on developing their talents and skills that will lead them towards their hopes and dreams of becoming the rodeo stars of tomorrow.  Although the competition and backles are important, the lessons taught in and out of the arena are what makes these young cowboys and girls winners in life. Dicipline, determination, getting up when you fall, serve as a foundation for becoming successful adults no matter what path they take in the future.

Hosted by Todd and Lori Massey, the M7 YRA prides itself on promoting the sport of rodeo with a strong sense of family values, community and friendly competition. Although youth rodeos exist throughout many states in America, M7 is special to those who attend because of the leadership provided by Todd, the judges and staff that encourage and support each rider, win or lose.

With Christmas fast approaching, M7 also collected toys and gifts for families of Johnson County as thier tradition of giving back to the surrounding community. And the day wouldn't have been complete without a visit from St. Nicolas himself who stopped by on his busy world tour to hear the wishes of every child. I'm certain there were requests for new horses, boots, hats, and toys, but nothing can beat the blessings of health, peace and happiness shared by everybody who stands together with faith in God above.

The spectacle that is barrel racing...

7/27/2014

Picture
Aside from being a sport steeped in competition, hard work and guts, barrel racing is also a spectacle of grace and technique. Every rider at every level puts forth an effort to win and in doing so, they provide an endless amount of entertainment and excitement. It takes years of practice to make a horse and rider a winning combination and at any competition you will find young riders putting in the work so someday they can dominate the arena and live their dream of being barrel racing champions.
Our pic of the day comes from our past event at the Star N Ranch where one hundred and sixty-two racers came together to see who was the fastest of them all. This little rider showed no fear while going for it all. Certainly, she's putting in the work today to kick everybody's butt tomorrow.

Barrel racing girls, Lindsey and Katelyn Mcleod...

6/27/2014

Good, old fashioned, family fun is at the heart of rodeo and the Mcleod sisters, Lindsey and Katelyn shared a minute to show us that the Mcleod's are family strong and a lot of fun.
These girls are great competitors but admit that they don't have a family rivalry, instead they support one another in the arena as they push for each other and root for "Team Mcleod." As much fun as it is to win, these girls understand that its more fun to have fun.

Lindsey is finished with high school is excited to ride in college as she pursues a major in bio-chemistry and eventually become an anesthesiologist after finishing her education at Texas A&M. Katelyn, on the other hand is finishing her fourth year at Southeastern Oklahoma State University and has plans to tour with mom on the professional rodeo tour.
The biggest surprise came when they told us all that their favorite pizza was "Cheese!" What? I know, I couldn't believe it either. But, it goes to show that you don't need everything when you've already got it all.
Of course the girls couldn't leave us without sharing that imagehounds are their favorite photographers. That goes without saying, but was nice of them to say it.

Shooting little stars...

6/2/2014

Picture
Our picture of the day comes to us from Burleson Texas where little stars shine their brightest. This little wrangler Alexandra Todd shows everybody how its done with some impressive riding skills. Alexandra and her horse are a perfect fit and fun to watch as they tear up the barrel pattern and race for home.
Photographing these rising stars is the highlight of every playday. Way to go Alexandra!

Serious fun at District 7 playdays...

5/20/2014

PictureImage Hounds Pic Of The Day — Lindsey Rochelle.
Although rodeo brings out the fierce competitor in every rider, the spirit of friendly competition is alive and well at District 7 playdays in Burleson Texas.
Its been a fun season in the arena and even as the competition heats up, these riders still manage to cheer for one another while keeping both eyes on the prize.
